Olancha, California

A quiet sandy experience. Loads of sand and not much happening. If that's what you like, this is for you. We visited at spring break and we were the only campers. Nothing in town except a very small store and a very small restaurant. If you want anymore than that, you have to travel to Lone Pine, which has only a few more stores than mentioned. But, it does have Mount Whitney if you want to go see some California beauty. Mount Whitney is the highest point in the contiguous United States at elevation 14,505 feet. You can do hiking up to a certain point and then beyond that, you need reservations. You can also catch some fishing in Lone Pine.

Bring your atv toys and have a good time in the sand. The sand is good for beginners and intermediate.

The heat can definately rise here and the bugs can too.
